Most SaaS companies are deploying AI to accelerate existing GTM workflows rather than eliminate them, which is why AI spend is rising but S&M as a percentage of revenue has barely moved. The real problem is a hidden "research layer" inside every seller role where SDRs, AEs, and CSMs spend significant time on manual synthesis that AI tools speed up but don't remove. The fix requires three sequential moves: consolidating all account data into a unified intelligence system, using that system to pre-arm sellers before every interaction, and feeding outcomes back into the system so it compounds over time.
